Editing: Firstly the video is completely black and white, or so we think. Towards the middle of the video there are specific props that have been highlighted a certain colour, for example the guitar starts of a vivid blue, then changes to green then to yellow
Editing: The use of prevalence is seen when there are shots of the whole band, there is a main focus on the bands singer to show to the audience that he is the most important member of the band.
Camera: The video has been shot in a 4:3 ratio, which gives it a much older feel compared to the current music video ratio which are usually 16:9, this shows the age of the song which came out in 1995 and shows the audience how much technology has surpassed itself over the years.

Sound: Well i'm not sure what to say really, as its a music video you're going to have sound. But right at the end of the video you have the diagetic sound of the mans footsteps as he walks out of the frame. This gives the music video a more real feel and makes it feel less staged.
Mise en Scene: The location of the music video seems to be outside or in a disused warehouse, giving an authentic feel to the video. It looks low budget so you don't pay much attention to the video you focus on the lyrics of the actual song.
Googling what people said about it was hard seeing as computers weren't really as popular in 1995. However I did find that the video was very popular on MTV and the sound was written for Noel Gallagher's (now ex-wife) Meg Matthews.
Its a good song rather catchy but I feel I can't listen to it on repeat as it isn't really my cup of tea.
And on another note, I have really started to hate blogger, moving photos is the biggest pain in the world. So quite frankly blogger can burn.
(yes I really did just google 'blogger on fire')
Well done Molly!
ReplyDeleteYour screen-grabs were good choices to highlight your understanding of the music video.
A little more evidence in your writing would allow you to show further understanding - although the images are helpful, more discussion in your text would have garnered a higher 'grade' - there are many points to discuss for each micro-element heading!
I enjoyed your comical approach to the task - thank you :)
